‘Da Projects...

Although the ultimate aim of any member of the Yaroze project is to get a game or two written, I have some other aims as well. I’m developing my Yaroze software on a Mac, for no other reason than that is the environment that I prefer to work in. However, there is a huge lack of decent tools out there for us Mac types for dealing with the Yaroze’s native graphics formats. I intend to rectify that along the way to game-project-glory then, and you’ll find them as they happen right here.

One of the game ideas that I am working on also requires that I put some time into a 2d Map editor. I can’t say exactly what the game is right now, since I’m thinking of entering it into the GDUK if it comes around next year, and the last thing I want is competition ;). However, when the editor’s done, I'm going to put it over in the Downloads section. I’m kinda torn at the moment as to what platform to do the editor under. I could crank out something in a nanosecond under Windows, but I really feel bad about spending any more time with the spawn of Gates than I absolutely have to. So, this probably means that I’ll try and get it done for the Mac, with a Windows port to follow, so I wouldn’t expect to see anything appear up here for quite a while yet.

Utilities

In here you are going to find the usual motley bunch of programming utilities and aids, written by my good self. Like I keep on saying, at the moment everything is quite slow. It's still very early days for the Yaroze and I, but as far as the utilities are concerned "As I need it, I’ll write it". Pretty soon after that you’ll have it for download on here.

Converter

Converts binary data into a character array in a standard C header file. Believe me, it's useful!

Demos

We all go through the demo phase. Before you can do anything useful on the Yaroze, you have to get a grip on the platform itself. Knocking up the odd demos here and there are ideal ways of making sure that you are on the right track. Here you’ll find some of mine.

Plasma

Ooooooo, multi coloured animated full screen plasmas, complete with a transparent "mystify" line wave pattern over the top. Yumm... click on the link to find out a little more, not least of all, how it's done.
