Yaroze Diary

(learning to program video games from scratch)

Welcome to my Yaroze Diary. When I decided to get into Net Yaroze, I knew nothing about C and had only the vaguest inkling of the effort that goes into programming a game. I knew it was a lot of work, and that I would have to be prepared to be hopelessly stuck for a while, but I remain convinced that one day I will be able to create something that will have even the most hardened coders murmuring "Cool…" under their breath.

Please take the time to flick through the diary! As well as the links below, I have a zipped RTF document which usually contains the most recent version here!

Author's Note:

Although I am writing about learning C, this diary is not here to offer anyone specific tutorials or exercises; please remember that I am still a novice programmer myself! What I am trying to do here is communicate my experience of learning C with the intention of programming Sony's Net Yaroze. If this diary happens to inspire or encourage any wanna-be programmers or dedicated game-heads to follow in my footsteps (and I hope it does), then it's done something useful. And if you know infinitely more about programming than me? Well, this might prove a fun read in any case (and if not, at least the C gods out there can scoff at my feeble ineptitude)…
