The news server has the following URL: 'news://news.netyaroze-europe.com'.

How do I access the news groups?

Via a news reader

• In your browser's location field, enter the news server's URL: 'news://www.netyaroze-europe.com' or 'news://news.netyaroze-europe.com' to see all the news groups.
  
  
• If you know what news group you want, then enter it in your browser's location field: 'news://www.netyaroze-europe.com/newsgroupname' or 'news://news.netyaroze-europe.com/newsgroupname' (where 'newsgroupname' is the name of the news group you want to read).
  
  
• You could click on the hyperlinks in the News Group List, below.
  
  
• Alternatively, in your browser select 'News>Netscape News' to bring up the news window and then bring up the User Prompt for a new host name.
  Enter: news://news.netyaroze-europe.com
  Then click 'OK' to close the prompt.

When you select a news group you will be prompted for your User ID and password. This is the same as the ones for accessing the Web site and uploading to your home directory.

Via the Web site

You can read SCEE news group postings via your Web browser by acccessing http://www.netyaroze-europe.com/yaroze/newsgroups and search them for a particular subject via the search facility).

What are the different news groups?

News groups are the main way for you to get help in programming and making graphics and sound for Net Yaroze. Post your questions here to get help and make sure you post answers to help other Members. There are several news groups for different topics for each of the three territories.

Please use the appropriate news group as it makes getting help easier.

If you would like to start a new news group, please contact The Net Yaroze Team, giving your User ID and explaining what group you would like to start.

Japanese and USA groups

Please note that you do not have direct access to the Japanese (SCEI) and USA (SCEA) newsgroups. They are fed to the European (SCEE) Net Yaroze Members' News Server form where you can access them. (This is currently not available - April 1997).

News group articles are set to never expire. However, in order to avoid lots of postings hanging around forever on the news group Server, they are archived on a regular basis (this will be every month when the news groups really get going). Once archived, you won't be able to access them from the news Server but will still be able to read them via your browser. Use the Search facility to view current and archived news group postings, selecting 'Net Yaroze Members' News Groups'.
